Nansledan School aims to provide an outstanding education, in an unreserved spirit of adventure, ensuring all its pupils reach their greatest potential and live by life’s highest values. Through the deliberate nurturing of intellectual curiosity, self-reliance, tenacity of purpose, and commitment to others, its children will develop as independent life-long learners, creative risk-takers and innovators.
Nansledan School will champion the STEAM curriculum, an integrated skills based approach to learning, and will be guided by the philosophy “Aut viam inveniam aut faciam” (I will either find a way or make one). Pupils will be encouraged to engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration and work through the creative process.
The children of Nansledan are the innovators, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century and the school motto “Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders” reflects this vision.
Nansledan Core Values:
Aspirations - achieve the best for ourselves and others, to imagine possibilities and make them real.
Self belief – demonstrating the courage of our convictions, with energy and determination.
Passion - enthusiastic and committed to seek opportunity, pursue talents and interests.
Integrity – honest with ourselves and others in all that we do.
Resilience - to overcome obstacles and reach success.
Excellence – in all we do
Through careful and deliberate teaching and promotion of virtues we nurture pupils in the skills and qualities they need to be successful in school and in adult life. Virtues are essential to the true goal of education – intelligence plus character – and all virtues will be integrated into the curriculum and ethos of the school.
The main virtues will be:
assertiveness caring compassion confidence courage courtesy
creativity determination enthusiasm excellence forgiveness friendliness
gentleness helpfulness honesty joyfulness justice kindness modesty
patience reliability respect responsibility self-discipline tolerance trust
These will promote fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
