Anning Class Y2

WELCOME TO ANNING CLASS

Our class is a team - we are discoverers, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century!
Anning Class is one of our two Year 2 classes. Our class is named after Mary Anning, a palaeontologist and fossil collector who's discoveries and research helped us understand about life on our planet in the far-distant past during the Jurassic period.

 English
This term we will be developing our understanding of all aspects of key stage one punctuation and grammar with an in-depth study of key terminology and information relating to grammar and punctuation rules.

Reading
We teach reading through Little Wandle and VIPERS. We continue to develop our reading skills, including decoding, prosody and comprehension. We encourage a love of reading through engaging children in a range of different book types and genres. We need your support with this and ask you to read 5 times a week and record this in your child's reading record. Books are changed on a frequent basis.

Maths
In maths, we continue to develop our fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills. In Year 2, the children begin to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times table. Regular practise on TT Rock Stars and Numbots will support their recall of key number facts.

PE
Our P.E. days in Curie are Monday and Thursday. Please make sure we have a full, labelled PE kit in school.  We will send this home to be washed at the end of each half-term.

Homework

Please see our termly homework grid on Class Dojo.

Additionally, pupils will be sent home with a weekly spelling list, these include the Year 1 and Year 2 common exception words.
