WELCOME TO ANNING CLASS
Our class is a team - we are discoverers, educators, leaders and learners of the 21st century!
Anning Class is one of our two Year 2 classes. Our class is named after Mary Anning, a remarkable fossil collector and palaeontologist whose discoveries helped people learn more about life on Earth millions of years ago during the Jurassic period. Although she faced many challenges, Mary followed her passion for exploring and discovering, becoming one of the most important figures in the history of palaeontology. Her curiosity, perseverance and love of learning make her an inspirational and aspirational role model for our children, encouraging them to ask questions, explore new ideas and believe in what they can achieve.
Miss Mac
Class teacher
Hello! I'm Miss Mac, and I'm delighted to be part of Anning Class. I was born in Cornwall and have always loved being by the sea. Whenever I can, you'll find me sea swimming, exploring the coast, listening to music, travelling, or spending time with my family and friends. I also love cooking and baking, especially yummy cakes!
In Year 2, we work very closely with our other Year 2 class, Curie Class, and enjoy lots of exciting adventures, trips and learning experiences together. We love creating memories as a year group and supporting one another along the way.
A few fun facts about me:
Favourite colours: Green and lemon yellow 🍋
Favourite animals: Hippos and octopus 🦛🐙
Favourite beach: Coverack 🌊
Favourite hobby: Sea swimming!
I am passionate about helping children grow in confidence, develop a love of learning and have lots of fun along the way. 😊

English
This term we will be developing our understanding of all aspects of key stage one punctuation and grammar with an in-depth study of key terminology and information relating to grammar and punctuation rules.
Reading
We teach reading through Little Wandle and VIPERS. We continue to develop our reading skills, including decoding, prosody and comprehension. We encourage a love of reading through engaging children in a range of different book types and genres. We need your support with this and ask you to read 5 times a week and record this in your child's reading record. Books are changed on a frequent basis.
Maths
In maths, we continue to develop our fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills. In Year 2, the children begin to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times table. Regular practise on TT Rock Stars and Numbots will support their recall of key number facts.
